Skalata has been allocated $5M through the WA Government's new $45M Venture Capital Initiative.
The initiative aims to accelerate WA's venture capital industry and support locally-based startups to scale up and create jobs. For every $1 of government investment, a minimum of $1.25 will be invested directly into WA startups and scaleups aligned with the state's priority sectors.
Skalata already backs several promising WA companies including CO-Architecture, Omni Biotech, and Enrola, and plans to establish a permanent presence in WA from 2025.
Co-founder and CEO Rohan Workman said:
“What we're seeing in WA isn't just momentum - it's a genuine inflection point. The quality of founders, the research commercialisation opportunities, the scale of investment - these aren't just positive signals, they're markers of an ecosystem ready to take off.”
“The next few years will be transformative for WA's startup ecosystem, and we want to be right there backing the best companies.”
Research shows a stronger startup ecosystem could create over 3,500 new skilled jobs in WA over the coming years.
Other recipients of WA Venture Capital Initiative funding include:
- Artesian Ventures (NSW)
- Brandon Capital Partners (WA)
